Volunteer Opportunities for Spanish Speakers
Are you interested into getting out into the community to experience Spanish in real situations? Consider taking a Spanish Service-Learning Course and/or seeking out a service opportunity on your own. The Spanish Language Program offers several courses that require students to complete 20 service-learning hours in the Latino community. We work with enrolled students to find sites where they will have cultural and linguistic contact with the Latino community that will complement the academic curriculum. If you are interested in working in the community on your own, we have compiled a list of suggested organizations. Unless you are enrolled in one of the Service Learning Courses we will not directly help you negotiate a volunteer placement. All students are responsible for your own transportation and safety.
Volunteers are needed at the following organizations. Please contact them directly for more information or to apply.
Orange County Rape Crisis Center
The Center seeks dedicated women and men with diverse backgrounds, ideas and experience to volunteer their time to answer its 24-hour crisis/response line and present educational programs.
